A new thematic mall in JB, slated to opne on 17 October 2018, may represent yet another threat to Singapore's malls, most of which have already lost significant number of human traffic. The mall, named Capital 21, is reputedly Johor's largest shopping mall to date, an is located at Jalan Tampoi, just 20 mins away from the Woodlands checkpoint.

The mall houses an indoor theme park, as well as having thematic floors inspired by any cities in the world. There will be five continents represented on each of the 5 floors of the retail side. The continents are Americas, Asia, Austria, Europe and the Middle East / Africa. Each level are also planned to have six iconic cities from the continents they are representing.

There will also be a theme park, which is to be the largest indoor theme park in South East Asia, and hotels. Being 20 mins away from Singapore, this is yet another reason Singaporeans may feel that shopping across the causeway is so much better than going to the same old shopping malls in SG. Now, if only the authorities can do something about jams at the Causeway.
